The U.S. has already struck Russian infrastructure, and personnel multiple times in the last 3 years. Add to this the fact that U.S. Troops are already "training" Ukrainians to fire U.S. supplied long range weapons into Russian territory.
The first strike was long years ago, and Russia has yet to even attack U.S. Troops.
Well there was this one guy, we'll call him "Boris". Because that was his name. Anyway, he showed up late to the office one day, so we all figured since his native tongue was cyrillic, rearranging the keys on his keyboard should prove pretty amusing. Remember those cheapo Dell keyboards you could knock the keys out of and just stick back on whichever way, even upside-down? Good times.
He finally showed up 15 or 20 minutes later and tried to log in, and pretty much right away smiled and said, "Come on, guys!" Lol. Helluva sense of humor that guy had. Only like 20% of us made the cut to stay for the last leg of that contract and both of us made that cut... not that it is relevant to anything. Just, I guess, he had a good sense of humour and also could actually do his job well enough to get kept on that bit longer, and right after the dotcom bubble bursting, we all needed as much as we could get.

A Russian "preemptive strike"?

I'm sure they're nice guys. I've never met a Russian I didn't get along with. Not yet, anyhow.
