DV ratio. Two days ago it was 2up for each down.

System said 4:1, many were bent. He changed to 3:1 yesterday.

Instead of obsessing over downvote ratios, how about you just leave it the way it was?

Alternatively, allow only a certain # of downvotes per day. That would take care of your bot problem, and also limit the damage by anybody that wants to target a particular user. I suggested this many moons ago.

I suggest instead simply offer a ranking sort that only includes the upvoats and doesn't include downvotes.

This eliminates those people trying to prevent others from seeing things.

It's a simple solution and is just one modification to the code. Simply eliminate the line where downvotes subtract from a Posts score and you have the extra "upvoat only" sort.

I actually made this sort for reddit years ago but they wouldn't offer the choice because of course the admins were the ones trying to suppress info.

Your vote ratio is fine, you should be able to downvote him or anyone else. There is a small cool down period between votes. If you're too quick one might not register.

I don't know about that system, I would rethink that strategy, voting sort of completes the communication loop between the poster & the reader. When I post something and I get negative feedback, it challenges to try to understand what it was in my message that didn't resonate with the reader. And there are other times when I don't care if the reader is butt-hurt. Getting rid of the voting, may not solve the problem that you are trying to solve, and may backfire. I would rather see the site exist as it was, and deploy measures to nix the bots.
