My condolences. With any luck, she'll become distracted by a shiny object or a romantic gesture and proper functionality will return in a timely manner, God willing.
The Bosch are probably the best, the quietest, and have a decent sanitize function with heaters built in to the unit (last model I remember), so you are actually getting sanitizing temperatures and not simply relying on the water heater.
KitchenAid are alright and so are the Electrolux, but they are so insanely expensive and the service on those I am not as confident in.

I bought a Bosch for my elderly parents, they love it, not one issue in 5+ years now. Meanwhile I have some hoopty fucking Whirlpool that never cleans anything that I would love to shove out of a plane into the nearest volcano.
Mine is fine, and yeah it heats up really hot at the end of the cycle. They don't like to eat food. I heard that American washers have more of a garbage disposal functionality. As long as you don't mind cleaning your plates (and, silly or not, I've always pre-washed them), they're good.
I'm not a partisan, either. This one came with the house. There isn't a brand that I trust in appliances, except maybe Speed Queen. Back in the day a Trane AC, but I don't even think so any more.
Samsung stuff has been ok, but it's still not built to last. It's all plastic and computers. I know it won't last.
The entire thread is disgusting, but the overwhelming majority are just self-serving idiots who like the 'exoticism' of the other partner and have no idea about how important cultural aspects actually are to people's identities-- which is why their mixed kids are always fucked up about who/what they're supposed to be. Multiple White people can sit in the same house quietly and be totally content to do so for hours--- Latinos are not like that, they're loud as shit in groups and never shut the fuck up-- ever. This 'introvert' is going to love the daily family gatherings of Latinos-- even if it's not possible in-person-- it'll be 24/7 group speakerphone calls.
