He was a long time alcoholic. He spent over twenty years drinking a handle of vodka and a 12 pack of beer every day. He didn't get sober until 2018. I'm pretty sure his liver just crapped out.
How old are you and how much? I guess it's mostly genetics. My uncle drank a handle of vodka a day for a long,long time. Called me up a few months back saying he was at the hospital thinking his liver was failing. Nope. Gall bladder problem. Change you're diet. He's almost 60 been raging since probably 30. Teens and 20s mostly beer then in his 30s started hitting liquor really hard. Also did a fair amount of cocaine. Shit you not he would beg me to buy him some liqour and bring it over to him I'd show up out of pity and welfare check. Literal shit on the floor everythings fucked and dirty. He can't get up off the couch because of how bad the DTs were profusely vomiting into a trash can. Hand him a bottle of liquor and he'd take a few good swigs. Man looked and acted sober. It is a crazy thing to witness. He could literally could not even get up without some alcohol in him. Then he'd start the whole thing over again. Once he'd get his bearings he'd go down to the liquor store and resupply. It's when he'd go so hard he was so inebriated that he passed out for so long he'd start to go into withdrawls and couldn't get off the couch. That is when he would call me.
Been thinking long and hard about quitting. Alcohol has always been a part of the life. I'm the offspring of Irish, Scottish, and English heritage. I've met some family who can put em away and so can I. At the end of the day is it really worth all the headaces, accidents, blowups, and maybe even killing you. I don't think so. Lately I've been thinking of just pouring the whiskey into the ground and never again. Too much of it.
