Both sides execute the wounded with drone bombs all the time. It's pretty disturbing to watch. You'll see a squad of about six guys, bomb drops, they all go down, riddled with shrapnel. Legs and arms are bent at weird angles, you can see their uniforms soaking up their blood. They all crawl or get up and try to scatter, and then the drone bombs them one by one.

They'll bomb a guy who is clearly out of the fight, both arms blown to shit, laying face down, weapon missing- drop a grenade on his ass, blow him in half. It's pretty damned horrible, but I suppose this is "real war". The wars we fought in Iraq and Afghanistan were like... "play wars", with so many fucking rules it could be a boardgame.

Not so in the Ukraine. Rules? Prisoner's rights? Allowing people to surrender? LOL

My father fought in 'Nam, and he would tell me that this was how the NVA/VC beat us.

Hypothetical: 6 US troops are ambushed by 3 well-hidden, dug-in Viet Cong fighters. If the VC shoots one of the Americans dead, that takes him out of the fight, and maybe 2 more guys will try to carry him away from the fighting. They've taken 1-3 men directly out of the fight. But what if they shoot to wound, or design their booby traps not to kill, but rather to maim?

A wounded man will take about 2-4 other men to help him. By wounding someone, leaving them screaming in agony, you cause more chaos among the enemy. But this is also a long-game play: a dead soldier costs $0 to support, his family will get some kind of payments... but a soldier who had both of his legs blown off? He's going to be a burden on his own country, draining resources from us. This is more of a guerilla style strategy, for fighting against a foe which is far superior in most ways. You've got to get dirty, nasty, brutal to overcome a superior force.

The larger force, however, doesn't benefit much from wounding the enemy. The best that comes out of wounding them is being able to capture them, and potentially get information... but most people that end up captured won't have any intelligence that your vast spy network isn't already well-aware of. Guerilla forces need to be killed, to a man, and that's why not even the USA can defeat the North Vietnamese or the arab forces- our side follows rules that the other does not.

They're not interested in simply 'wounding' to tie up enemy resources - it has gone far beyond that. They are willfully exterminating each other.
Both sides have been gaslit by multiple occurrences and videos of tortured soldiers being shot with their hands tied.

Their best bet is to make contact on the given numbers and get through to the Russian side. Probably not very easy for most of them.


That's a successful technique for programming the indigenous species. "I'm defending my country!" Yeah, you're cannon fodder for your bankers and mammal exploiters.
