This one came from the same pot as the last one. I actually like it better, it's kinda mysterious in its patterns. There's like eight more buds, so this is gonna be cool.

Anyway, hope y'all having a good Sunday.

Is this a new plant or did you refrigerate old plants?

No, it was two separate orchids in the same pot. This one just bloomed later.

Edit: you can kinda see the old stem from its neighboring orchid withering in the background of the pic.

Ooo, pretty.

Wow, did you get an orchid to re-bloom? It’s tough, I had an orchid that re-bloomed one flower and never again. Tried singing to it and taking good care. It didn’t give a shit.

We usually wire ours to one of our ferns and they do fine. Then again, we also live in the rainforest on the Orchid Isle.

Yeah dude, there's a huge thicket of it back there. It's right behind my fire pit and it looks awesome when there's a fire going.

That is lovely and very calming.

Nice. My rescue is still in recovery. What kind of bamboo is that?

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry [op] 2 points 11 monthsMay 20, 2024 04:35:01 ago (+2/-0)

Oh man, I don't know shit about bamboo other than it's technically a type of grass.

There are around 1200 different types, with the main difference being clumping (slow rhizome spread, down to 1/2" per year) and running (spreads up to 5+/- feet per year), with some in between. Height ranges from 6" to 120', diameter from 1/8th" to 1 foot. From tropical only to to -20F.

If you want to prettify that, the general rule of thumb is to cut out the oldest 1/3 of culms (canes) each year. Sawzall at ground level works best. I had a bamboo nursery for awhile. It's a gnarly plant.
