Memphis is right up there with Chicago with violent crime and has been for years. When I was a kid before you could use your phone for directions, we were on a family vacation and had to drive through Memphis. My dad got lost and pulled over in a mall parking lot to call a friend for directions since this friend had lived there. Dad told him where we were and his friend said “first you put your car in drive and then you drive outta there as fast as you can”.
Apparently that mall was nog central and known for lots of crime, carjackings and murders.
