took some wicked pictures with my phone. Where i was observing, i could see waves of brighter aurora converging to a central point. Coming from all directions to that area straight up, slightly south. Id would do that for a few minutes and then slowly all the lights would disappear. Then about 15 minutes later the whole thing would start over.
Aint you guys ever seen Day of the Triffids? Most of the people in the world went out and watched the lights in the sky ("meteor shower" in the book) went blind, and became easy pickings for the man-eating plants.
I'm theoretically within the viewing area, but between hills, city lights, and trees and shit I can't get a clear view of the north horizon. Plus I doubt I'd see much if I could. Pretty close to the limit.

Thanks for sharing that. It's been a pretty good show tonight. I was going to take my little boat out on the Lake Erie tomorrow where it's darker, but there is a small craft advisory.
2003 was the last time but it was different. There were streaks shooting towards the south, but there was no red color at all. This one is glowing bright and then fading. Still cool and this is the first of six solar storms, tomorrow should be better.
