He wanted to demonstrate to the commies that the Western allies could be murderous and bloody too, just like the Russians. I had to put the book down several times and just deal with the fact that so many Whites died horrible deaths at the hands of other Whites.
And after all the killing, the raping, the theft, the lies and kangaroo courts, what did the German people do? They worked their asses off and rebuilt their country. Germans are a great people.
