I can't afford to take grandma to the doctor. Do you think clamping her head in a paint can shaker for a few seconds would help?

Just put your vibrator under her pillow at night.

I tried, but she won't let me remove it from her depends.

Can't hurt to try!

Maybe. Try it and report back.

Where's the study?

"Conclusion:
The results are very promising, but the therapy still requires maturation. Further studies are needed to systematize all the techniques used and their effects in order to enable use in humans."

$2 worth of electricity to fix old person syndrome. Watch this memory hole faster than Epsteins client list.

Gee, some basic, dirt-cheap homeopathy for disease that billions of $ given to 'market maker' pharma parasites will never cure

Supposedly Alzheimer's is the concequence of plaque buildup in the brain. Shaking it loose seems logical.

I stick my finger in a light socket. That shit vibrates your whole body!

[ - ] Fascinus 4 points 11 monthsMay 7, 2024 11:57:16 ago (+4/-0)

4yo me did this.

I saw the heroes in the cartoons getting all powered up and thought it looked pretty awesome.

I wanted to do that too and I knew where power came from. Let's do this!

Managed to wedge my pointer finger into the left slot and ZAP!

That shit HURT. All these years later, every time I smell ozone it takes me back to that moment.

Five year old me was climbing on a gate to the horse pasture. I knew the hot wire was on but never really cared. Wintertime, I was playing in the snow and felt it was a good idea to climb on the gate. Holding on for a bit it felt like I was hit in the spine with a rock. Dumbfounded, looking around I realized I was electrocuted.

In my 20s I zapped my finger in a light socket trying to bend the bottom contact up...not knowing the switch was on.

The paper says the ultrasound and microbubbles are a way to briefly open the blood brain barrier to let more drugs through, nothing about breaking up the plaques. Still an interesting study

[ - ] sharkbait 0 points 11 monthsMay 7, 2024 20:28:56 ago (+0/-0)

Based on what I read, this "study" is just a review and consolidation of other actual studies. They didn't do any science here. However, in the "Results" section of the abstract it does state "Fifteen original studies were selected. Preclinical trials were able to reduce amyloid-b plaques and tau phosphorylation, improving cognitive performance in AD animals."

Also, in the studies they consolidated there are several that mention in their results that it breaks up the plaques. For example: "Jordão et al., 201010 Mouse FUS associated with administration of anti-b-amyloid antibody (BAM 10) in transgenic mice (TgCRND8) promoted a significant reduction of b-amyloid peptide plaques."

Fair enough. On a different note, did you hear about how one of the biggest names in Alzheimer's research is getting investigated for potentially falsifying results of decades of studies? Crazy times we live in. But back to the point, it would be really cool if ultrasound becomes a useful treatment for dementia.
