Germans were trying to cleansing their nation of communists and degeneracy. Most of their degenerates were jews , and every jew is a commie. What are you going to do, chase them forever and exile them, the way the US does with criminals that get deported multiple times and they come right back and commit another crime? Communists would come back from a soft handed exile, jews would too. I admire the Germans based realization that they needed to exceed the commitment level of their enemy.
