Malinois are fantastic I miss mine she passed a few years back, we switched to guardian dogs specifically a Kengal. Not easy to train, but they need no training needed in patrol and protection. The one thing we did need to teach her was to bark at incoming humans as the breed tends to be silent until you get a cold now against your hand or a bite around the neck.
I used to breed GSD's with Belgian Groenendaels and 80% of the time it would result in a short coat malinois. 5% of the time you would see a long coat malinois come through. Amazing dogs.
Malinois are the best. We have a small herd of imports here. Several level 2 subadults. That guy has a stale routine and the dog shows little engagement interests. A good ways from Mil-spec.
