I'm thinking the same. All their rhetoric is certainly pointing to that, actually has been for a while. It would take the animus off of all the rioting blue hairs and murdering troons and put it back on their real enemy, White American Men.
What you'd think would happen if an epic bird pandemic that will kill all humans was actually happening or going to happen: Government/news media/military: "Everyone quick start killing all the birds!"
What actually happens: Government/news media/military:"Don't fucking move you piece of shit human! Don't go to work! Stay away from everyone you love! No park benches! Take this drug or lose your job that you can't go to!"... and other stuff
