I know it's silly, but this is the first time I've ever gotten an orchid to bloom.

I've had dozens of orchids over the years, and they never rebloom. I've had this one for at least two years and today I was greeted with this. Pretty fuckin stoked.

Nice!

Not silly at all! What a triumph! I overwatered the one orchid I had and never tried again.

I dunno. I get excited about my flowers. It is kind of silly when there's so many other things going on. It's a cool little escape from the bullshit though. Orchids are really hard to please I guess. I don't know. I probably just got lucky, or it was happy. I like to think it's the latter.

That's amazing dude and very beautiful! I don't know much about flowers but I do know it takes talent to grow orchids! Congratulations on that! I know me mum tried for years and never got that. I think flowers are an awesome pursuit. Personally I think they're the closest we ever get to heaven without actually visiting.

Nice! Ain't nothin' wrong with that. I have many flower gardens and my wife and I look forward to doing it every year. We look forward to doing our garden too. I just plowed yesterday. I can't wait for all our cherry tomatoes & cucumbers to come in. Then we usually put big planters all around on hangers. I put two of those big ass ferns at one of my outbuildings.

This is the third year I'm trying to grow lavender from seeds. This year ONE finally started and has kept growing.

Orchids are a pain...good work!

You do so many things and I do not.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry [op] 6 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 20:58:09 ago (+6/-0)

So go do things. Only one stopping you is you.

[ - ] Peleg 4 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 19:11:45 ago (+4/-0)

Did you do anything different this time?

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry [op] 8 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 19:31:23 ago (+8/-0)

I tried the "leave it the fuck alone" method and kept it in a place that got really only ambient light, very little direct sunlight. Also, I didn't pour out it's pot when I thought it had too much water pooling. Really I just left it alone. Almost seems like a metaphor for something.

[ - ] Gowithit 7 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 19:34:13 ago (+7/-0)

leave it the fuck alone

I call this method the god method. Throw it and forget it. Works most of the time.

[ - ] Clubberlang 7 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 22:25:43 ago (+7/-0)

I did this technique with my lawn.

Magically grew back.

But now there's this bean stalk in the middle of the yard that reaches way up in the sky.

And of course every Sunday some fuck yells down "FEE FI FOE FUM!"

And I yell back "shut the fuck up faggot I'm tryin to sleep go gargle your boyfriends cum!"

Then the bitch shuts up.

[ - ] WhiteCollarCriminal 1 point 1 weekApr 24, 2024 01:55:26 ago (+1/-0)

It's not actually a bitch it's some fag named Jack. He likes the bean "stalks" more than most of the fellas. Don't climb that stalk whatever you do!

Be he alive, or be he dead,
I'll grind his bones to make my bread

Sounds like the big guy is a bit of necro-faggot-whore.

My amaryllis bloomed again, same method. Those flowers are bigger than my outstretched hand. They're fuckin awesome.

[ - ] bobdole9 3 points 1 weekApr 24, 2024 06:57:02 ago (+3/-0)

leave it the fuck alone

Your flower wants to be treated like you do. Golden rule apparently applies to flowers, too.

"Bird of Paradise" plant out front. Ever time that thing blooms I smile. Couple of times a year. That is sufficient facial exercise.

[ - ] bobdole9 3 points 1 weekApr 24, 2024 06:58:58 ago (+3/-0)

Well look here at mister "I live in a warm climate".

Those things are awesome...planted one in our backyard after landscaping near LA, however had to sell the house before it bloomed.

Now I have the lego kit as a substitute.

[ - ] Clubberlang 3 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 22:24:44 ago (+3/-0)

I'm guessing you remembered to add water this time?

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry [op] 1 point 1 weekApr 24, 2024 08:46:33 ago (+1/-0)

Nah, I didn't do anything. Just left it be.

[ - ] Sector2 1 point 1 weekApr 24, 2024 14:01:37 ago (+1/-0)

Hope my rescue orchid does as well. It's growing again, but is down to 1.5 leaves after someone abandoned it out in full sun. You're doing something right with yours.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 2 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 20:06:51 ago (+2/-0)

Is that what those things are? Usually I mow them over once the locals have munched on the petals. They regrow every spring.

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry [op] 4 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 21:00:17 ago (+4/-0)

They grow like crazy at my mom's house. Everytime I visit she's got blooms going crazy. I guess it's different if you're actually watching and waiting though.

[ - ] Steelerfish 3 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 21:42:51 ago (+3/-0)

My mother is the same way. She has at least a dozen of them in her screened in patio at any given time. She’s had some for years and years. We have one that we’ve had for years- hanging in a big ass conch shell. We use the “God method” as gowithit mentioned. It has bloomed several times…..

[ - ] Cunt 1 point 1 weekApr 24, 2024 07:49:06 ago (+1/-0)

Orchids can be very finicky but also the medium in most is very shit and causes them to wither and not re-bloom or even die.

Take care of the roots!

It's detrimental to the best outcome that we keep these memories alive
