Omg, that probably almost covers its marketing budget!

[ - ] KosherHiveKicker 2 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 15:02:01 ago (+2/-0)

Where EXACTLY is the source cited for the "$70 Million Globally"?

- https://www.imdb.com/title/tt17279496/?ref_=chtbo_t_1

Every source I check still shows $44.8 Million as of 4-21-2024

[ - ] Joe_McCarthy [op] -2 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 15:04:10 ago (+0/-2)

The source is Variety. Look at the OP.

Are you suggesting your dated info is legit and they just made it up? Harharhar !

[ - ] KosherHiveKicker 2 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 15:08:34 ago (+2/-0)

YES. Variety has, and continues to lie about all things Jewllywood due to it's parasitic nature upon it.

I've read the article. It vomits supposed box office reports with ZERO sources cited.

[ - ] Joe_McCarthy [op] -2 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 15:16:00 ago (+0/-2)

Variety is a reputable film oriented publication. You'd be hardpressed to find a more reputable one. As such it constitutes its own source.

Conversely, you're suggesting a Jewish plot to fudge this particular movie's box office receipts based on your days old stats that partially excludes even this last weekend's expected totals. Absurd.

Article 4-23-2024

How bad are things at the box office this year? Pretty bad when the current Big Box Office Success Story is Civil War, a movie that’s only managed to gross $49 million WORLDWIDE over two weekends.

Re-read that again $49 Million WORLDWIDE.

Additionally the article states that Pedowood productions are down at least 21% over the last year.

the only thing surprising is that someone would post this like it means anything except an excess of niggerbrains, which is well-established

Yeah, well, feel free to posture like you're above it all, paying to see a movie and all... or alternatively expose your anti-social nature. But we've had a running retardo fest suggesting this movie would "bomb". Just thought I'd rub their noses in it with a full on chronicle of how this thing is doing. Plus as an accelerationist it is my duty to talk about this film!

[ - ] KosherHiveKicker 2 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 15:05:51 ago (+2/-0)

Even at $70 Million Globally... IT IS STILL A BOMB. It needs OVER $ 100 Million to even turn a profit.

A box-office bomb, box-office flop, box-office failure, or box-office disaster is a film that is unprofitable or considered highly unsuccessful during its theatrical run. Although any film for which the production budget, marketing, and distribution costs combined exceed the revenue after release has technically "bombed", the term is more frequently used for major studio releases which were highly anticipated, extensively marketed, and expensive to produce, and ultimately failed commercially.[1][2]

Nope. It only cost $50 million to make!

‘Civil War’ Recovers Its Reported Budget in Just Ten Days

Civil War, directed by Alex Garland, has quickly recouped its $50 million budget, becoming A24's seventh-highest grossing film globally

[ - ] KosherHiveKicker 2 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 15:45:07 ago (+2/-0)

- $50 Million Production costs
- $?? Million Marketing / Crisis Management costs
- $?? Million Distribution Costs.

A24 Films has already acknowledged the additional Marketing-Distribution costs but have yet to provide the numbers publicly.

You are only digging yourself deeper. Right now we are arguing over how much of a loser this movie is. It needs over $100 Million to simply break even.

[ - ] Joe_McCarthy [op] -2 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 17:36:07 ago (+0/-2)

Bullshit.

[ - ] KosherHiveKicker 1 point 1 weekApr 23, 2024 17:40:46 ago (+1/-0)

If $50 million were all Civil War needed to break even, then both Garland and A24 would have less to worry about. After all, if the movie doesn't cross the $50 million mark by the end of this weekend, it has a chance to do so over the next month. However, with marketing and distribution costs taken into account, it's fair to assume that Civil War needs to make at least $100 million to be a success. While this is certainly doable, especially if the film's second-weekend drop-off is limited and word-of-mouth gets more people out to theaters than the average A24 film, Civil War still has a significant challenge ahead of it.

Once again it is... My facts -vs- You "Nuh-Uh"

[ - ] Joe_McCarthy [op] -1 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 18:14:13 ago (+1/-2)*

You mean once again it is you patting yourself on the back. You're like the Barry Horowitz of fake Voat.

Your own link characterizes even $80 million as "impressive". You are equating lack of "success" with "bomb". If even $80 million is "impressive" (but not a "resounding success" - again from your own link) then it seems clear there is middle ground here. What is an "impressive" "bomb"? Makes no sense.

Tell ya what, we know this film is number 1 at the box office two weeks in a row and we've seen superlatives about it breaking records and such. Why don't you present some reputable critics characterizing this as a "bomb" in the media currently? Or that it is likely to be remembered as a "bomb"? Your using different words to mean other things ain't it. The only people I know of calling this a "bomb" right now are you and the intel guy from the other country.

[ - ] KosherHiveKicker 1 point 1 weekApr 23, 2024 19:48:51 ago (+1/-0)

You are actually attempting to argue that losing $20 Million dollars is "Impressive"?

[ - ] CMajor 0 points 1 weekApr 24, 2024 12:17:06 ago (+0/-0)

accelerationist? Now who's posturing?

[ - ] 2girls1cup -1 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 18:19:55 ago (+0/-1)

The basic formula for any film release is the theatre venues only take 10% of ticket sale revenue and give a month for the studios to recoup their costs and make profit, sometimes 6 weeks. After that the theatre venue takes about 80% of ticket revenue sales, but at that point, obviously there's usually not as much hype. That's why food and popcorn prices are through the roof, because on new releases that's all the theatre complex is making money on. Civil War still has at least another 2 weeks to tally ticket sales.

A24‘s political thriller “Civil War” is resonating not just in red states and blue but overseas, too.

Alex Garland’s film, starring Kirsten Dunst as a photojournalist who traverses a violently divided United States, has grossed $45.7 million in North America and $20 million internationally. Global ticket sales stand at $67.3 million through Monday, and it’s projected to cross $70 million on Tuesday.

“Civil War” is the first A24 movie to top the domestic box office, and it’s impressively remained the No. 1 film for two consecutive weekends. Given the fiercely U.S.-centric subject matter, it wasn’t clear the film would resonate at the international box office. But “Civil War” has managed to appeal to overseas audiences with the biggest turnout in the United Kingdom, where it has grossed $4.8 million, followed by the Netherlands, where it has grossed $750,000. Over the weekend, the film opened in first place in several smaller moviegoing markets, such as Brazil ($1.2 million), Spain ($573,659), Belgium ($205,253), Finland ($180,435) and Portugal ($126,129).

This is funny as hell.

That puts it 20 million in the black by the way. So far it's made 20 million more than it costs. It's the "bomb" that keeps on making money!

[ - ] Tallest_Skil 2 points 1 weekApr 23, 2024 14:41:04 ago (+2/-0)

in the black

Except for the ~30 million in the red.

As an aside no one believes these upvotes and downvotes are real.

Cool, don’t care. You scream constantly about fake Internet points as though anyone but you gives a shit about them. Meanwhile all of your propaganda is hopelessly transparent and no one believes a word you say on any topic. Commit suicide, dipshit. Everyone hated your jew propaganda movie.

No.

It's just funny to point out blatant vote manipulation. People dislike dishonesty.

Yes, they’re displaying this dislike by downvoting you.
