Festival of Nations FINISHED

This was the coolest place to go 30 years ago. Danish cream puffs from girls wearing wooden clogs, Russian language lessons, folk dances. All European foods, stalls and events except for 1 or 2 African countries. So they would give you a fake passport, and as you go around trying ethnic foods out and stuff they would stamp your book. Really cool as a kid. The event also had chess masters that would play 1 against ~30 boards set on a bunch of tables in a square. It costed $2 dollars to play. You make your move before the 1 guy comes around, if you stalemate or win you get the pot. Well I checked into this event a few years back and I swear it looked like 90% african countries. So I passed. Just seen this.

My mother was one of the European vendors at Festival of Nations years ago. She quit due to the fact all the inner city high schools shipped their students there for the day and they would rob and steal anything in sight.
One thing I hated about Festival of Nations, and multiculturalism in general, is that it reduces whole cultures to just differences in dress and food. Cultures are way more complex than just clothes and food.

I figured, when I went there it was a weekend I think, when open to public. I didnt know it was a field trip for the schools until I checked on it years later. I really did have a blast with my chess playing friend and family at the time. It was mostly European at the time. No wonder tyrone would chimp out if only African stalls and culture remained while euros pulled out. Here have some human flesh and sand the food of your peoples. lol

They must be side by side with those Lutherans in Minnesota who brought in and are still bringing in all those Somali's using government money. Its so inspiring. Such diversity, such cultural enrichment, oh my virtual signalling skills need work.
