The part about the family of the target of the blackmail being physically present and aware that their father is involved in this shit doesn't make any sense. You can maybe keep the father quiet, but what about his three kids and his wife? As the years go by, the kids will hear about this shit happening around the world and step forward with names. The family has to be unaware of the blackmailing for this to work, otherwise there is too much risk of a leak.

I absolutely 100% believe this sort of stuff goes on, but the reality is probably way closer to what you describe than what this post had.
