Sorry but no, that’s a four leaf clover, our national symbol is the shamrock which has three leaves. It’s used because it is how St. Patrick explained the holy trinity to us when evangelising us, explaining that just as a single shamrock has three leaves the one God has three persons.

He was Welsh, non-Irish sure but not that foreign. And I don’t really care, I’m not religious, but the four leaf clover doesn’t mean anything Irish but is often used to represent us abroad. Personally I blame Celtic - they use the four leaf clover as their crest and are a supposedly Irish club, but their reason for using it isn’t really a reference to Ireland. Think that’s where a lot of the confusion comes from.
