On a ship you smell it before you see it. It fucking reeks of hot garbage. For a supposedly muslim country booze and hookers are everywhere. Corruption is everywhere and Indonesian cops love to extort Westerners for their "retirement" fund. It has a ever increasing violent crime problem, the Triads (Chink mafia) are everywhere in Jakarta. The Indonesians can't drive for shit and traffic is fucking atrocious.

Upsides are it has excellent port facilities and at least the central business district is safe. Also the skyline of the city can be visually appealing.

I'll happily answer any questions you have about Indonesia or some of the other countries I've been to in my life.

what year were you in Indonesia? Did you go anywhere but Java?

I've been to Indonesia twice, once during spring 2015 and a second time in early 2017, just after the inauguration.

I also went to Sumatra, Western Paupa, and Sulawessi.
