Clearly the thing this is missing is an app to monitor it's progress. At the minimum there should be a counter. Say a simple CSV file:

In the series I think he said the blade ended up weighing 30 or 40 pounds. You could get through a few thousand necks before needing to change it. At the end of the day, it's 6 bolts. No big deal. What situation are you going to be in where you need your guillotine blade to be swapped in 2 minutes instead of 5?

You'd have to worry more about grease/fat buildup on the blade. Powerwash or powerscrub that off every so often, then use a grinder (with proper wheel) for a quick sharpening touchup. Power tools FTW.

Rusty Cage is a little ... off. Maybe a little wanna-be edgy.

But damn if his series on the guillotine isn't both thought-provoking and very good.

I recommend everyone have a look at the five or so videos he's made of building this thing. I think he's a good guy with the right ideas. Some of us should follow a bit of his example.

He's always been a severe alcoholic that suffers with depression. He's been both edgy and thought provoking his entire career. Listen to his music (not the cringey meme music), where he questions things like Consumerism (The Lives of Flies). Or the one where he questions the instinctive feeling to form relationships and breed (The Lies of Love). One of my favorites, "There Isn't Any God," is an introspective about how he personally wishes he could believe in God just for peace of mind.

I liked watching him build this thing. Crazy ass fun videos too. Though I think he could have done a better job here and there, and watching him struggle to lift some of that lumber was cringe.
