Just a friendly reminder that you can't comprehend being smarter than you are. Or dumber.
We see different things in our world, in our relationships, in our conversations and we say "I can help them. Can't they see? Wtf the answer is so obvious!" But we forget that it requires certain levels of iq to comprehend certain things AND THEN APPLY THEM. someone may even understand in a vague sense what you're saying during the conversation and turn around and do the opposite again.
It's easy to get frustrated or to point fingers or look down upon ppl for this, but remember to check if they are even capable of actually understanding the concept in the first place. You can't get mad at a chimpanzee because it failed a math test. And it's OK to be the chimpanzee that can't do math. Jist eat your fucking bananas and stop throwing poop.
My wife gets angry at our son that he doesn't follow orders or understand why this or that is bad to do. I don't. I know he is retarded. At least for now.
I think you can comprehend it if you are intelligent enough to simulate other's thinking with a thought-model in your own mind. And you can do the inverse to extrapolate what someone of a bit more intellect might feel, even if you can't simulate his exact thoughts.
It's not magic. Someone smarter than you is going to notice things faster, in more numbers, and put the different things together easier. They will have certain abilities that people without that sort of horse-power they have simply cannot do.
It's not that they can't be lead astray, or make mistakes. Quite the opposite, they have more room to make more mistakes at a faster rate! The smartest man on Earth has stubbed his toes.
But if you're smart enough, you can see. You can notice it. And, with effort, and a bit of time you can understand it. Even learn a thing or two along the way.
Similarly, understanding the dumb is just an exercise in frustration. Not that you can't do it, just that it's a frustrating exercise that's going to take some effort. Which means you have to study stupid. It helps if you consider them biologically animals and not as people.
I've had the pleasure to work with a few people of like intelligence, and a very few of higher intelligence. It's a wonderful thing to put down an idea and have it fully understood. Though I may have to put in a few extra hours to keep up with some of them, it is a blessing I am thankful for in the rare instances it happens.
To reiterate, it's not magic. But it is absolutely biologically based. It is the engine that drives your car. You can work hard and reduce the weight, put on good tires, and polish the paint, all of which will help. But you still need a good enough engine to get up to highway speeds.
You THINK you can understand. You can pretend, but you cannot comprehend it. Your simulation is from the point of your own intelligence and it just isn't correct.
