YouTube cracking down on third-party apps that block ads

Following the ad blocker crackdown, YouTube is explicitly going after third-party — often mobile — apps that let viewers skip advertising.

YouTube announced today that it is “strengthening our enforcement on third-party apps that violate YouTube’s Terms of Service, specifically ad-blocking apps.”

Users will see a “The following content is not available on this app” error message or experience “buffering issues” when they try to play content though those alternative clients.

My adblocker still works fine. Nothing they say or do will ever make me view their ads.

That will be the death of YouTube

Just go to youtube.com in a browser with an ad blocker instead of using any of the apps. Works great.

The podcast grifters tell the ad as part of their routine

After the eighth Grammerly ad in a row, I think I'll purchase it.

You know the product exists. So the advertising worked.

Youtube has been cracking down on third party apps for years, can you tell me something new?

true but according to the article they are going to enforce it more or whatever that means. actually they are going to try to slow down the videos or stop the connections altogether. lets if its holds true.

people should start using alternatives for youtube like invidio and other services that are not as stringent on their users

Few days ago I started getting actual ads appearing for several seconds instead of just a screen flash. Can't replicate it this morning though.

I use uMatrix and ad block plus.

My adblockers still work. Google will have to fuck up all internet to make them quit working.
