Our perception of time changes with age. When we're young time seems to drag. When you get to 30 it changes and starts going faster. At 40 the shit flies by and at 50 its all just a blur ---how the fuck are all my kids now young adults. Youth is king.

Agreed.

Except: This is somehow different. I manage to keep a pretty objective measure of time and things are weird these days. Add to that my son has come to me, completely out of the blue, and commented on such, makes it weirder.

Something is definitely screwy.

No it's not. He's aging so he is starting to experience it. And there are a few variables that likely contribute to that perception. It's possible not all of them were applying to you as fast as they do to most. They're not all set in stone constant variables. For example as the variety of your daily activities and knowledge consumtpion goes down time speeds up. So if you're learning and doing new things for longer into your life than most people time will speed up less for you than for them.

It is entirely perception. Interestingly enough if time actually IS speeding up you will have no perception of it because you are IN time and speeding up with it. So time acceleration is an entirely perception based experience. Unless you start approaching the speed of light... which you arent.

The largest contributor to perceived time acceleration is most likely the way your brain measures the passage of say 1 month as compared to the total months you have lived. When you're 10 years old 1 month is 1/120th of your life. Thats a lot. When you're 50 a month is only 1/600th of your life. That's a lot less and so it feels relatively shorter as compared to the length of experience you already have in memory.

Pretty solid advice. This runs parallel to living life to your fullest potential. You have to keep learning. Keep moving. Something entropy something.

This guy is 100% correct

I have a side job delivering and picking up leased trucks.

I did pheonix to buffallo 3 times back to back... first trip seemed to take for ever middle trip like I was in a time Warp third trip almost like it didn't happen.

96 hours of driving in 14 days about. Time got weird

As someone once said: "When I turned 30 it was like I'd hit an oil patch and I've been skidding to the grave ever since".

It's all perspective. People in prison see time crawl, which ixplains why young people see time crawl, being imprisoned in school and and as dependants incarcerated in their homes. Next, it's the corporate drudgery, where one can barely make it until quitting time. Later in life, with more free time, time seems to speed up and we wish we had more of it to relish our good fortune.

[ - ] Doglegwarrior 0 points 3 weeksApr 16, 2024 15:32:13 ago (+0/-0)

It ebbs and flows for me but lately time seems to be flying by

It just your memory getting worse. Since you can remember less and less of today but still remember your youth you get the impression that time moves faster.

Man hell yeah. It's already the middle of April. I'm rapidly approaching death. It feels like I just turned 40 and now I'm almost 44. I've been married 12 years and with her for 16. What the fuck man.
