Iran warned Israel of the attack before doing it and intentionally passed up all soft targets in favor of getting everything shot down.

Some truth there as in Iran apparently warned the US which of course would warn Israel. Also I read that Iran didn't use its supersonic missiles (or something) but slower drones/cruise missiles. So, yes, theatre for the home audience.
