Native Linux Graphic Editor

I've been using Affinity 1 with Wine, but it was finicky and sometimes crashed. I tried a bunch of other programs and found Lunacy by chance. Its actually pretty good and has tons of free assets. Another good program is BoxySVG.

UPDATE for OP: I just tried out Pinta and I suspect this is what you want. It's like an MSPaint but has layers and other features like photoshop. Perfect for blasting off memes.

What I want is Affinity V2 running natively on Linux. Pinta is too simple for my work and would complicate the process. I would have to have multiple files and multiple windows, whereas in Lunacy I can have multiple canvases of different sizes and copy elements between them.

No gimp?

Gimp sucks ass for doing actual work. So many things that are 1 click in adobe, lunacy, affinity, boxysvg, etc are a multi step adventure on gimp. Krita is way better than gimp for actual work. But Krita is also not every good. Working with text and drop shadows in krita and gimp is a pain in the ass. The only thing I use these for is converting files or the most basic of edits. For example, open up a PSD in krita, remove some layers, group what I want, flatten image, ctrl+c and paste it into another app.

I'll have to try those ones out. I switched over to gimp after photoshop 7. They have similar functionality but I always wished I had the knowhow to go under the hood and tweak the features.

I like both Krita (vector) and Gimp (a program that fulfills the needs of photoshop type editing) but they are big programs. There is a small one called mtPaint that is just like the old (and simple) pixel image editor called MSPaint.

https://mtpaint.sourceforge.net/

This program may be in your distributions repos.

What projects do you make on this?

Banners and stuff like that. I could also use it for memes.
