is salvation to Christ conditional?

submitted by niggaswaywhat to AskUpgoat 1 monthApr 10, 2024 07:51:00 ago (+2/-0)     (AskUpgoat)

Talked to somebody about this (very jewish person) and now im even more amused. I always assumed that salvation was internal and that one looks to God for salvation. Hence when one sins, they sin to God, and themselves. However, just because one sins, does not mean one is not saved. The old is still there, reborn to Christ. This person was arguing that those who are saved spiritually, who were baptized, etc were never truly saved.

This person decided to point at some of my friends and proceed to judge the shit out of them. As far as they were concerned, because the haven't sacrificed their job, their life, their hobbies, etc, they were never truly saved and still get to go to hell. Ironically, this person never volunteers, never gives money to the needy, or does anything remotely Christian. But they have no problem lambasting others who are actually trying to get right with Him.

I think Paul is pretty clear on this in Romans 7 that people suffer from sin.

If you are saved, no one, not even yourself, can pluck you from God's hand. John 10:27-30

We are justified by His grace. Romans 3:24 Ephesians 2:8–9 Not by works. Ephesians 2:8–9, Romans 3:20

Requiring works means that Jesus' sacrifice wasn't enough, you have to do something too, to get your salvation across the line. I think that kind of thinking is blasphemous. Works are the result of salvation, not a prerequisite.

Salvation is conditional. It requires faith in Jesus Christ. There is no alternative.

Ordinary sin is a given, but there is a verse that seems like God denies you in return for something like denying or blaspheming him? I forget the details, but am pretty sure it was about your behavior or attitude towards God.

It's for blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12:25-29 Mark 3:29

Basically, claiming that Jesus got his power from satan. It's a pretty high bar.

You can slander Jesus and be forgiven, but not against the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12:31-32

wat

who were baptized, etc were never truly saved.

if you think that you get "saved" by dunking in some water you're a retard

because the haven't sacrificed their job, their life, their hobbies, etc, they were never truly saved and still get to go to hell

he's right. we're all destined to hell if we take no action to stop evil. that is, if you believe in hell, which is not part of original scripture and is just some shit some dude made up.

Ironically, this person never volunteers, never gives money to the needy, or does anything remotely Christian. But they have no problem lambasting others who are actually trying to get right with Him.

Is he wrong? Ignore the messenger and his deeds. Is he wrong?

I understand the base concept, but what they were talking about was more in the liberal Christianity sense. It's the idea that if we dont fight for LGBT rights, etc, we're not saved because "current year" crap here. This is the same person who routinely makes excuse for criminals, niggers and the likes because muh forgiveness. I call it spiritual postering

People that have done nothing to make them feel proud of themselves tend to find pride on empty things.

Geez he sounds like an asshat, no one knows the heart of man but God. He judges and God didn't make him a judge, so he is getting it hard and fast when judgement comes, unless he repents and changes his way.

Yeah i even tried explaining the concept of what sin is, and how one sins towards God. Needless to say, I got nowhere

We are made in His image but few are those that appear in His likeness.

Narrow is the way Indeed. Even the Pharisees for all their so-called "righteousness" were rebuked by Christ for their heart was far away from God.

Pray he gets God-smacked into reality if God so wills it.

No payment for sin, no acceptance of Christ as your Lord and Savior... what then and following Him?
What does work out your salvation with fear and trembling mean to you?
