Just saw the totality, not going to lie, it was pretty damn cool.

submitted by we_kill_creativity to TellUpgoat 1 monthApr 8, 2024 15:20:14 ago (+45/-5)     (TellUpgoat)

I happen to live in the path. I went to my brother's house to watch it. If you ever get a chance to see the totality do yourself a favor and take your glasses off a time or two. Possibly the most majestic thing I've seen in person. It got so dark the street lights came on. It also got notably colder too. It's still darker than normal out there.

Did you guys see the solar flare at the bottom? Pretty fucking cool.

[ - ] dingbat 4 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 16:10:09 ago (+4/-0)

Yes!

[ - ] allAheadFull 4 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 18:55:36 ago (+4/-0)

The little red dot on the bottom left? Wondered what that was.

[ - ] Gowithit 5 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 20:00:55 ago (+5/-0)

I told the kids it was the power indicator and proof of the sun being fake. But fine solar flare it is.

[ - ] TheOriginal1Icemonkey 3 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 20:29:13 ago (+3/-0)

This.
The whole thing is a psyop to counter the “space is fake and gay” narrative.

[ - ] dulcima 3 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 20:07:23 ago (+3/-0)

Dammit I'm jealous not to see it in person.

The glowing never seems to end

It's hilarious to me how the moons shadow absolutely Destroys the idea of a flat earth.

Just look at it's path!

Yet shabbos goy retards even on this site uphold the idea of a flat earth.

[ - ] Sal_180 2 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 18:10:10 ago (+4/-2)

They just make up some bullshit excuse with zero evidence. Literally made up on the spot. They can do millions of "experiments", build rockets etc. But they can't organize a boat or plane to the edge

[ - ] GreatSatan 0 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 21:22:00 ago (+0/-0)

Facelessone thinks the government has the entire global icewall protected from people trying to get to it lmao

You literally aren't allowed to travel to Antarctica. This is just fact. It isn't debatable. You are shill 100%

[ - ] big_fat_dangus 0 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 19:59:48 ago (+1/-1)

Flat tards don't want to learn. They want to be retarded.

[ - ] we_kill_creativity [op] 0 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 22:29:15 ago (+1/-1)

The fact that accounts like yours are so obviously using techniques to disparage flat Earth is all the evidence most people here need to see to know that flat Earth is on to something....just give up already. You've already lost...

[ - ] big_fat_dangus 0 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 23:41:54 ago (+0/-0)

Increase this one's glue rations, and give him only the finest and chunkiest Elmer's. He's our SPECIAL boy.

[ - ] we_kill_creativity [op] -1 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 22:04:56 ago (+0/-1)

You do realize how I've used you on flat Earth right? It's so obvious...

You're so easy to use.

I am thrilled to have been able to watch this. It feels like a monumental event. I know that's a bit silly, but celestial phenomena like this is fascinating and the peak of beauty for me. The only thing that holds greater beauty than the heavens is the female form.

Fuck, I'm such a nerd.

[ - ] Sector2 3 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 16:37:31 ago (+3/-0)

*Ideal female form, not average or typical female form in 2024.

Right, you get it.

The fact that the solar systems design exhibits so well through solar eclipses

All tied to the length of a human pace

yeah, it's some special energy around.
here when we had totality, birds were ignoring it pretty much, but shadows were nice.

[ - ] dingbat 7 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 16:09:53 ago (+7/-0)

It was super cool! Went to the forest on a hike with my pup and made it to an open hill during the good stuff. Dropped about 10 degrees. My dog laid nicely like a good boy and we listened to the birds going crazy while I gazed with my glasses.

[ - ] dontbeaphaggot 7 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 15:57:46 ago (+7/-0)

The light dimming wasn't orange like at sunset. It was a blueish hue, and a rainbow/halo around the sun.

[ - ] KangzNSheeit 4 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 19:05:52 ago (+4/-0)

That's because at sunset the suns light travels through more atmosphere, and that atmosphere is closer to ground, where the light hits more dust. If the eclipse is overhead the light is dimmed like at sunset, but it isn't absorbed and scattered the same as when it travels through the air from the horizon.

[ - ] dontbeaphaggot 1 point 1 monthApr 9, 2024 01:25:25 ago (+1/-0)

Hmm it sounds credible enough. I'll believe it.

[ - ] HelenHighwater 7 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 15:28:12 ago (+7/-0)

Agreed. Quite a cool cosmic thing to witness. Crazy dark during totality.

[ - ] Master_Foo 6 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 18:34:03 ago (+7/-1)

Everyone check your buddy, make sure nobody fell off the edge of the Earf while the lights were out.

[ - ] we_kill_creativity [op] 0 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 21:56:41 ago (+0/-0)

Do you idiots really not realize how I used you regarding flat Earth? It's so obvious...

[ - ] bobdole9 5 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 15:57:18 ago (+5/-0)

85% crescent with a bit of cloud allowed me to squint with my sunglasses. Same outcome in 2017 too come to think of it.

Weirdly dim...not really dark, more like "afternoon thunderstorms" dark.

[ - ] Had 4 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 17:38:43 ago (+4/-0)

Thunderstorm dark, but with crazy sharp shadows. It's like 2x a bright full moon night. And the temperature change is wild.

[ - ] bobdole9 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 21:49:28 ago (+1/-0)

I haven't seen shadows like that since old school night scenes of westerns...just slap a dark lens over a sunny day.

[ - ] The_Reunto 4 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 17:03:42 ago (+4/-0)

Cracked out my welder's helmet for this one.

Saw one some time ago. Went south a bit to a friend's family's farm to watch. I remember how everything went silent when it hit.

[ - ] PearofAnguishJuniorManager 3 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 16:52:28 ago (+3/-0)

In central Texas, buzzards began to circle. I went to a restaurant where they just had an eclipse party, and they were talking about all the circling buzzards. I was looking at different buzzards from my house.

Circling buzzards isn’t a bad omen, right?

[ - ] I_am_baal 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 18:53:13 ago (+1/-0)

I think the meaning of such things is really tied more to the individual perceiving it than the thing being perceived. A bad omen for one may be a good omen for another.

[ - ] TheYiddler 3 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 16:13:53 ago (+4/-1)

It's not still darker than normal. That's retinal damage.

[ - ] MuricaPersonified 3 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 15:39:13 ago (+3/-0)

We were in the perfect spot for the 2017 eclipse and it was a clear day... Right up until the moment of totality when a cloud came out of nowhere and obscured it.

Still really cool. Got really dark, the birds went silent, lights came on, etc.

[ - ] ilikeskittles 3 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 15:37:59 ago (+3/-0)

Yes it was!

[ - ] Dindu 3 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 15:35:29 ago (+3/-0)

[ - ] fnbs 2 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 19:13:18 ago (+2/-0)

I saw it back in 2017 when we had blackout, it was fuckin cool!

[ - ] JudyStroyer 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 22:32:10 ago (+1/-0)

I live dead center of the path and i didnt think it was going to be a big deal before it happened. After seeing what i saw and feeling what i felt, it was easily one of the greatest experiences of my life and it completely caught me off guard. We homeschool our kids and we were just out in the yard hanging out and watching it begin through the glasses. But man, when totality hit, i tried to record it, and after about 20 seconds i just put my phone down because there was something just so captivating about the whole thing, and my inner voice said just said “no, just soak this up” and im glad i did. At the center if it you could see a twilight area 360deg around you. The planets were in view as well during all of this. You will never ever see a picture that shows you what i saw. Once the sun came back into view, the very first sliver made it seem like you were in a room with a somewhat dim lighbulb over in the corner. That then got progressively brighter and then all seemed normal. I never in a million years expected to feel the way i felt during and after that. Ive been near eclipses before with some varying degrees of darkness but never like this. Cool stuff. Really cool stuff.

You left your tent?

I saw it on live stream and was impressed.

[ - ] PenisEnvy 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 21:08:33 ago (+1/-0)

We had clouds but I was amazed how dark it got.

[ - ] I_am_baal 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 18:37:26 ago (+1/-0)

I had to travel a little bit, but I got to see it too. That was pretty much a spiritual experience.

[ - ] NeedleStack 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 19:40:22 ago (+1/-0)

Would you mind expounding on that? Thanks!

[ - ] we_kill_creativity [op] 2 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 22:01:49 ago (+2/-0)

When you see it, you see two heavenly bodies in line. You can instantly understand why people in the past thought it was a religious experience.

It was like something that movies try to recreate with an orchestra and other emotional things, but you don't need that when you see it live. The Sun just goes away and all you see is a black hole surrounded by a heavenly aura...suddenly day becomes night and it's eerie as fuck.

Pink Floyd did a good job with their song Eclipse, but it doesn't really compare to actually seeing it.

[ - ] NeedleStack 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 22:22:09 ago (+1/-0)

Thanks for this. I'm so jealous. I had tears in my eyes just watching the event and others' reactions when I watched a livestream (hours after it was over). I can't even imagine how amazing it must have been in person.

[ - ] I_am_baal 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 20:47:40 ago (+1/-0)

There was just a very interesting and powerful energy in the air during the experience in addition to the visual element. I think there's something to the idea that the sun, moon, earth, stars, and planets have some kind of energetic impact on us.

[ - ] NeedleStack 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 22:24:02 ago (+1/-0)

That's so great. You're so lucky (blessed) to have witnessed it. It was cool hearing commentators from different locations mention how they saw bats and/or flocks of birds fill the air during totality. Amazing.

[ - ] I_am_baal 1 point 1 monthApr 8, 2024 22:39:41 ago (+1/-0)

I feel blessed. I had the pleasure of bringing my buddy out to see it for the first time also. I highly recommend it if you get the chance to see it in person some time.

take your glasses off a time or two

I couldn't see it with the glasses on. It was like almost dusk.

[ - ] Gowithit 0 points 1 monthApr 8, 2024 20:02:17 ago (+1/-1)

You see all the jets flying up almost immediately after it cleared? Chem trails everywhere.
