If anyone is under any delusion that the United States millitary is the strongest force in the world and is backing the petro dollar.

You'd have to carry a shotgun instead of a rifle, and you still couldn't do a continuous 360 observation to catch the drone coming in. They almost always have a spotter drone above, guiding the FPV drone to the target. Shotgun won't do much for a drone a couple hundred feet up dropping grenades on you.

Yes, you would. You just need one man in a squad with a scattergun. It's been proven effective at taking out drones and is realistically the best option at the moment.

Good concealment goes a long way too.

If the squad is that bunched up, then they're an optimal grenade drop target. I'm not seeing any videos with shotguns taking out drones. There are thousands of videos of drones taking out enemy infantry and armor with no resistance.

Concealment is hard. Drones watch you going to your position or trench. If you're already there, thermal imaging drones spot you and give your position to the FPV operators.

Extensive netting could work for the suicide drones, but wouldn't stop grenade drops. You still have all kinds of artillery dropping on you too, plus direct fire on the line of contact. It's not the place to be if you want to live.

Follow up shows a anti-drone installation on top of the lead tank, that did zero against the pretty devastating drone attack by the Ukrainians. The Russian commander in that area appears to be some kind of moron.

Likely behind them. They use nets and foilage over trenches. Being out the open is where you tend to be spotted.

Where'd you hear this? Why aren't the Russians and Ukrainians fully outfitted with shotguns for this purpose now? When this all started and the drone bombing footage started pouring out, I got curious about this and looked up some videos on youtube. People bought all kinds of shitty, cheap drones and fired various weapons at them. I was astonished at how well these things could take birdshot or even buckshot without becoming disabled.

The only shit that I've seen footage which works against drones- shooting them down with a rifle has been caught on film a few times, or literally smacking them with a stick when they're coming at you. I've seen footage of Russians firing shotguns at them, but none of that footage shows them downing a drone.

Heard it from a few sources since drone warfare started heating up over there. I'm sure I'd read in at least one or two articles that the Russians were breaking out their Saiga-12s for last line of drone defense, and heard several anecdotes from mercs on the the Ukranian side that they're started to employ shotguns- including from those two losers that were on Garand Thumb's channel a couple weeks back.

Both sides are employing jamming tech as well for a first line of defense against them, whether via jamming drones or mounted to other vehicles. That's a luxury we probably won't have if we get swarmed.
