Why would anyone in the US buy imported food, especially from that part of the world?
Domestic food is risky enough.

Just so happened to go to Aldi's this afternoon after reading this post. Wasn't really shopping for it, but on a whim I picked up a package of frozen red shrimp (which looked pretty good) and lo and behold, "Product of India" was right there on the package. Back into the freezer pile it went. As much as I hate the press, every so often they redeem themselves (sorta) with consumer information like this.

I've checked frozen shrimps in my supermarket. It was written made in Asia. I know that Asian countries usually dump their sewers in the water, so I put them back. Eating shrimps from sewer water is not worth saving a few bucks.

We get ours right off the gulf boats.
We buy fresh bait shrimp buy the shovel full and haul it back north.
Process and vacuum seal.
