I grew up in rural areas and spent the vast majority of my life in suburban areas... I recently made a friend who has spent her entire life in the city. It's amazing how helpless they are. Like, she refuses to own a car, because she says "I can just walk/uber anywhere, and there is nowhere to park".

She doesn't understand why I value the freedom of having my own vehicle. She just assumes that there will always be a taxi, and the roads she walks will always be safe (she lives in one of the most dangerous cities in USA, but talks like it's not a bad place, it's fucking weird) There are all these little things she just doesn't get, but in a strange dynamic, she talks to me like I'm a clueless country bumpkin. I have to hold back some of my more venomous thoughts because of how easy it is to set city slickers off.

And here I am with boats, bikes, motorcycles, cars. Even thinking of getting an off-road golfcart and slapping some solar panels on top. That or converting the bike to electric and having a fat add-on cart with solar on top/sides of that.

Mobility is freedom. That and all the machinery of it all is just fun.

"Mobility is freedom." This is absolutely correct. The woman I speak of relies on an absurdly complex web of bullshit to get from point A to B. You and I could just... we could just GO if we felt like it.

Now I want a golfcart.

I used my ebike for nearly everything now. I don't feel like a massive hindrance in traffic as I can maintain 30mph, but I need to peddle hard for it. Id recommend you do it.

It would take about 45 minutes to walk there. 8 minutes by train. I go there for different things like once every 3 months.
