I'm an advocate for simple things. A bullet to the back of the head while leaning over a self-dug pit is enough for most of our enemies. Rope and a street-lamp is nice and efficient as well.
However, particularly visible/egregious enemies, like the press, deserve more pomp and circumstance. This is where the blood eagle, spike walls, gibbets, brass bulls, and the like come into it. All televised of course.
