Upgoat feature request - Get rid of anon posting entirely. It's blatantly being used to ruin this site.

Unless you made this site to be ruined in the first place, in which case you having an "anon feature" makes perfect sense.

Why do you even have anon posting? Is there some benefit to it? It not difficult to understand the reason the chans got ruined is because they didn't use account names. It's even less difficult to see in real time the clearly deliberate uptick in anon posting being used as a tactic to ruin this site. So why are you allowing it? Did you make this place with the intention of letting it be ruined?

There's no benefit to allowing "anon" posts. Even if their were, it would never come even slightly close to outweighing the gargantuan negatives that it has.

I mean, that's true, but it's hardly the most important aspect of it. It's obvious that we're seeing more and more "anon" posts trying to desperately say "How do you do, fellow real anons!?".

I still haven't seen someone tout an actual benefit of "anon" posting.

1) Sometimes people feel more comfortable answering certain topics under the cloak of "anonymity".

2)People can shed their "personalities" on anon.

You said it ruined the site. I checked recent anonymous posts to see what you were talking about and there was barely any activity. I don't see any evidence of it ruining the site. That's why I asked you to elaborate... which you haven't done.

I think it's important to have it. Not sure how it's abused, maybe I'm not seeing as much due to some filters..
But little by little, you may give more hints about who you are, which country, region, city, etc.. And you might not want that, thus anon posting.
Or you might want to raise a question that goes against previous posting and to avoid being hypocritical, you might want to post anon and get the info, let's say you are a jew loving person who is starting to open your eyes...
I don't know how much they are abusing the anon part as you claim, but maybe there is a middle ground. I think it should exist.

I blocked all the anon subs a long time ago, but it would be nice to have an option to "Hide anon content (enabled/disabled)" under account options, like there is for Gore and NSFW.

Anon was more of a glowie subversion nest at real Voat than it is here. That is even surprising.

That being said anon should be abolished. In particular the guys that think they can hide from hostiles by making their pro-me posts in anon are mostly living in dreamland. Maybe from NGOs or antifa. But not US intelligence.
