They would like that. They love the idea of green. And they love the idea of mandatory. And certain corrupt businessmen really like the idea of servicing the artificial demand this would create.
And where I'm at everything is nuclear so it's actually more green than wind or solar. Here telling them to use wind or solar would just make them more bullshit than they already are. The real question is why does your area not have nuclear?
If you really want to make EV drivers feel like the bullshitters that they are, we should make them qualify for the purchase buy requiring them to buy an entire gas truck of diesel and then drive it to the mining site and put it in the equipment themselves.
Aluminum frame, glass fronting, paper backing. The electronics and diodes however, I'm not so sure. I think they're silicates. Now the wire sheathing is absolutely a petro product.
The vast majority of the panel is just the aluminum and glass.
The controller and battery coverings are petro, though they could be made of something else.
Virtuous environmentalist plugs in car increasing demand on the electric grid. Power plants burn more fossil fuels to meet increased demand and charge the car.
Virtuous environmentalist acknowledges this. Buys solar panels and installs them on their roof. Donates money to wind farm. Power plants are now burning less fossil fuels.
Environmentalist brags about how virtuous they are.
Virtuous environmentalist plugs in their car again, increasing demand on the grid. Fossil Fuel power plants burn fossil fuels to meet increased demand and charge the car.
There's a guy on my block that does just that. Or his wife has the prius and he built the solar stuff. I see it every day on my dog walks.
It's a fairly neat setup, in a nice house. 2-car garage, 2-car carport, and 2 sides of the house covered in some nice panels, not the cheap ones. You can see on the side of the house that he has some professional-grade extra hookups to supplement/replace grid power.
And he somehow has a 3-line of chimneys for wood power as well. Nice brick house. I don't even know, nor have even seen the guy and he's killin' it.

Also, replace to word "pretend" with "propaganda and manipulation".

And to everyone that shouts "Yeah, but it's a one off" my response is how long until those solar panels and wind mills need to be replaced?

Unfortunately. If we could make it here, I assume we could do a better job of it.
About 20 years or so. The tech is still advancing.
