I came to the comments first on this one. They never show the proof. Went DIE kinda quick at the beginning. SETI also claimed if any processed any signals on their system with SETI@HOME they would get credit. I don't remember anyone getting a credit because that would have been news.

Yup. Science "journalists" make up shit all the time to get headlines and views. Very often it is an intentionally skewed and wildly stretched version of something some scientist once said while drunk at a party.

But if they can show proof, and amateur astronomers back that up, I'd look into it.
