I've been a home repair guy for 35 years. Got a call to a old nigger lady's house, her water heater had a leak. I told her she needed a new one. She started cursing about how I need to 'do my job'. I tried, and failed, to explain that her boiler was 40 years old and rusted out. She started screaming about 'racism', so I left. She followed me on CRUTCHES, screeching like a banshee. I took the stairs down. The unit owner later told me she accused me of trying to 'make moves' on her, and steal her purse. Yes, she was on welfare. This was in a Hawaii oceanside condo, in what used to be a nice hotel.
Naw, they know they're full of sheeeiiit, just trying to white guilt us into gibs me dat! It's not working like it once did and they haven't figured out a new scam cuz they're too fucking stupid.
They're not that expensive. Especially if you do the proper thing and save some cash on the side for just such an emergency.
Removed and replaced mine a couple years ago when it crapped out. God only knows how old the last one was, but it was so rusted out that I couldn't get the heater rod out without twisting the front to junk.
Did the whole thing myself with the help of an engine hoist I got to do a clutch job. The old water heater was about 1/2" away from being too big to fit up/down the stairs, so I had to hoist it out.
Point is, it took most of a day and a couple hundred bucks. Not a huge deal really. And I probably save a couple bucks of electricity with the smaller/newer unit.

The only happy ending here would have been if she got ventilated when the cops got there.
