I work in video game development, and it’s been a fucking bloodbath since 2022. Something in the neighborhood of 25,000 laid off. Times were booming during Covid, everyone was buying and playing games in their dungeons. I didn’t get any of that windfall. Game companies hired like it was never going to end, but it ended rather quickly. Now they’re all top heavy.

I know a lot of niggas out of work. Many of these Hollywood folk are submitting applications to game companies, thinking the grass is greener. It’s not. I’ve been making games for 30 years, there’s a period of turmoil and layoffs every 5 years when the consoles upgrade. But this current contraction is especially harsh.
