A couple of weeks ago maybe a month my place of employment was involved in a ransomeware attack and our all "White" IT team locked that shit down and we are only missing a couple days worth of data.
Most companies will try to "save on costs" and skimp on the proper back-up capability needed to beat ransomware / data corruption damage.
The ability to restore data from an isolated back up system that lags 1-2 weeks behind your current database can save you hundreds of thousands of dollars. And yet corporate penny-pinchers will fight you to fund, and implement such a system.
