Whole flock of roseate spoonbills

Saw these fuckers having dinner near the vacation cabin I'm staying at.

They're my wife's favorite bird when we come here. The brown pelicans are a close second. I'm partial to snowy egrets and osprey. We saw a Great Blue Heron catch a fish bigger than it's head yesterday. It was pretty epic.

I know it sounds gay, but I absolutely love bird watching. I get in my happy place just watching them do their thing.

Also, and a fun fact, the one's that aren't bright pink are either female or low status males. Their pink color comes from their diet, but the females and low status males don't get the same feed as the alpha spoonbills do.

Pretty fuckin based if you ask me.

Well depends. Ain't bad if you smoke 'em, but they ain't no good for the grill.

They're not gamey, so to speak, just fishy. Kinda like mullet. Terrible on a plate, but really fuckin good smoked.

Don't ask me how I know that. They're a protected species. Which is crazy because they're in the ibis family, and nobody gives a fuck if you eat an ibis.

Yeah, you could if you had to but you really don't want to. Plus they tend to stay away after the first snare.
