Linux mint, that's where the dude could have stopped.

Mint is fantastic for beginners. Once you learn the ropes though, you should probably move on to something with more functionality.

We've all sort of relented to systemd. It's gay and retarded. I wish I was smart enough to avoid it. Before systemd Linux was way more stable, simple, smaller and faster.

There are still versions of linux being produced out there that are sans systemd:

Have you been on linux long?

I'm on Debian/Cinnamon (Cinnamon - Because I'm a creature of habit.)

Been using Linux since x-windows. I'm not some uber-admin-user, but I can get around. I've done mate, cinnamon, gnome, kde, etc. and they are cool but xfce is just hands-down the best desktop environment. I'm on mint as they load non-os drivers and sw without too much fuss.

Every once in a while, I'll get a bug up my butt and switch desktop managers, Some of them I would kind of like if they made small changes to them. Some of them like Gnome, I hate!

Gnome used to be cool, like 20 years ago. At least I still liked it then. It's pure AIDS now.

That is the Trend...

So True! I'm glad we don't exist in a solely Winduh's world anymore!

Of course there are other OS's out there. Pity that OS/2 didn't become more popular & mainstream.
BSD still has a loyal following, Unix, not sure how that might have developed in the absence of LINUX.

He knocks Pop_OS, even though it does the same thing as Tuxedo... but "the dekstop is outdated" and "they haven't updated the experience in two years."

Maybe I'm crazy, but I actually prefer my PC to be useful, so I don't need a new "experience" every year where I have to learn where shit got moved to or what got broken. Stability in the desktop "experience" is a GOOD THING.

I think they just read forums and parrot (no pun intended) what he sees posted online.
