The video is probably fake (and most certainly gay), but if you stress a kid to the point they shut down, you can get a situation like the father was in where you literally tell them the answer, and they can't repeat it back to you because they're in overstressed/panic mode. The kind of situation where your mind freezes and "your training takes over," but of course they aren't trained for any sort of intense stress; they're kids. So they just give any answer, hoping it will end. Some kids are more sensitive than others, but a parent slapping them in the head and yelling at them is a pretty good way to get many kids in that state.
