In the small community that I grew up in there were several babies born within 5 years of each other that had a certain deformity. Everyone was Told that it was hereditary, but when nobody in any of their heritage had ever had that problem they were told it was a vitamin deficiency.
I have always thought that they happened because of a vaccine given to those children's mothers when they were children in the 1940's.
