European tribes, specifically Celtic, did practice ritual cannibalism. The way I understand it is that when an elder died of natural causes, the tribe would ritually eat him to keep him in the tribe. That was a couple thousand years ago though, when they worshipped gods with forgotten names. It didn't happen after Roman conquest.
