We get it, you went to college and became an r/atheism mod

[ - ] big_fat_dangus [op] 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2024 11:35:22 ago (+0/-0)

My T levels are too high to become an /r/ anything mod.

Instead of insults can you point out what aspect is illogical?

I have one argument God is so powerfull he knows everything but can hide what you do from himself to still give the appearance of free will?

ITS A STRETCH. But who am I to limit what God can do

[ - ] FacelessOne 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2024 14:37:12 ago (+0/-0)

I do not make the folly of assigning unto God, the attributes of man.

If one was capable of understanding the mind of God would he bother posting on the internet?

This shit is dumber than dirt, even for a low iq (((pagan))).

Every parent that's ever raised a teenager knows that his kid is going to, one day, do something that the kid shouldn't, but allows that kid to make the mistake before the parent punishes the child for that mistake.

This isn't a very hard concept to understand and in no way suggests that the parent doesn't love the child.

Absolutely lazy, shit, and low IQ parenting.

[ - ] FreeinTX 1 point 1 monthMar 12, 2024 13:58:06 ago (+1/-0)

That is not low IQ parenting. You have to trust your kids with their decisions, even when you know that they'll not always do what's best. Certainly, there are limits, but this is standard and normal parenting.

dont forget "I prefer blood sacrifice and look forward to it's revival when my chosen people construct our 3rd temple"

[ - ] The_Reunto 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2024 11:13:04 ago (+0/-0)

The concept of a 3rd physical temple on earth is not Biblically supported.

God is the government and the irs will make sure you give your tithings. Who knew.

[ - ] The_Reunto 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2024 11:12:10 ago (+0/-0)

God doesn't necessarily know what you will do. That's the point of free will.

The Calvinist perspective is that salvation is determined from the beginning of time.

The Catholic perspective is that freewill can interfere with the receipt of salvation, even though it is offered universally.

There are some cases in the Bible where God removes someone's freewill so that they will commit an action (such as the hardening of Pharaohs heart).

But, reasonably, an all-powerful God could produce for each individual the circumstances that best leads to their acceptance and salvation. Even in the case of Job, his suffering deepened his faith by granting him a perspective that he did not have prior to that, nor would he have had he not gone through those trials. In the case of Saul/Paul, God permitted him to persecute Christians up until a point. But Paul's perspective gained through his negative experiences became a useful tool for spreading the message of Christ.

The punishment related to sin (death) is forgiven so long as one is in Christ. Have faith.

"death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" - 1 Cor 15:55

Ah yes, the story of Job is one that speaks perfectly to the OP image. "Sorry about killing your entire family lol, here's a new one, just forget about it, it's nbd, right?. I was just making sure you loved me."

[ - ] The_Reunto 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2024 21:23:22 ago (+0/-0)

Like Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac, it was with the understanding that death is temporary.

[ - ] Anus_Expander 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2024 18:46:37 ago (+0/-0)

If God cannot see the future, then He is not all-powerful.

[ - ] The_Reunto 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2024 21:21:54 ago (+0/-0)

I think you meant to say "not all-knowing".

Free-will implies that God would be maximally knowing. Free will would not preclude the possibility of soft determinism and prophecy.

A maximally knowing God would still understand every chess piece you could move, but not necessarily what you will move. From the possible moves, a contingency for each possibility could be present.

[ - ] Anus_Expander 0 points 1 monthMar 12, 2024 23:22:00 ago (+0/-0)

'All-powerful' includes knowing the future

[ - ] The_Reunto 0 points 1 monthMar 13, 2024 06:23:59 ago (+0/-0)

Not usually

[ - ] Anus_Expander 0 points 1 monthMar 13, 2024 11:31:29 ago (+0/-0)

ALL-powerful means He can do ANYTHING. A god that cannot see the future is a weak-ass chump.

[ - ] The_Reunto 0 points 1 monthMar 13, 2024 12:45:35 ago (+0/-0)

Soft determinism addresses your concern.

God of the Bible does know the future.

If we approach this from the premise that God is maximally powerful, maximally knowing, and omnipresent, there are no conflicts with freewill.
