I like espresso but my way. I blend my beans - a mix of light roast, medium, and a small amount of dark roast. A lighter roast fine grind that I pull way longer than most. This gives it a fuller flavor profile.
Then heavy cream. No sugar If I feel fancy ill foam it
A poor faggot who wishes he could stand in line at gay Starbucks for thirty minutes for a cup of coffee that costs seven dollars but you can’t cause you’re broke (or smart) so you do this? Hell, I don’t know.
I quit coffee a few months back, but when I did, I’d get whole beans, grind coarsely, and French press it. Always tasted so damn good that way. Wahmen style with cream and a touch of sugar. I miss it sometimes but don’t need it anymore. I just get right up and at it.

Coffee isn't particularly stimulating, but the experience of a hot tasty liquid in the morning is nice. Usually do black tea, but with the new roaster I've started having a cup of coffee some days too. Half & half or cream.
Lol, I used to be a coffee aficionado and get all fancy with my shit, sourcing beans etc. then one day I’m at my friends house and his wife asks if I wanted a coffe while I was in the basement making fishing lures with my buddy. She gives me the coffee, and I’m blown away by how good and smooth it tastes. I say “where the fuck did you get this!?” And she replies “it hannaford brand instant coffee” I tried a few different ones and I found the tasters choice dark roast and the bustello to be the best for me. Believe me, I know it sounds retarded but just try it and you will be drinking it more often. Especially since I have a water jug heater/cooler water dispenser thing that I fill with well water. I just dump a spoon of coffee in and hit the hot water dispenser and I have coffee 30 seconds after waking up. I also only drink my coffee black. Fuck all that other shit. Anyone have this strange phenomenon happen to them? It also travels extremely well if you are into outdoor shit.
The weird thing is, I tried some of that when I was younger and in the service. The instant coffee was horrible and I stayed away from it until a year or so ago. I don’t know if the coffee has improved or if my tastes have evolved (devolved?) lol. Who knows. It’s just where I’m at now. Life’s funny like that sometimes.
Taste buds change, no doubt. We like what we like. There is no wrong answer. When I was younger I couldn't figure out how anyone could eat a hotdog other than the way I like them and then it dawned on me; There is no wrong way to make a hotdog even though I do not like or eat the kind my wife does. She likes yankee hotdogs. I like Appalachian hotdogs.
I'm a lazy peasant. I get the cheapest k-cup blend from Sam's club. No sugar and a generous dollop of heavy cream. First thing in the morning to hold me over until I eat at noon.

I was about 4 years old the first time I had coffee. The old ways of doing things around my area was nice. In the mornings adults had their coffee cups on a saucer. The saucer was for cooling the coffee. They would pour a little out of the cup and into the saucer to cool faster. Then sip it out of the saucer. When the coffee in the cup finally cooled enough to drink they drank out of the cup. I remember walking into the dinning room and hoping up on dad's knee. He would pour a little coffee out of his cup into the saucer and slide it over to me. I sipped the coffee out of the little plate. The common way for folks to drink their coffee was with a little sugar and a little cream in the morning. In the evening, after dinner, desert was served with a cup of black coffee. I don't know why it was that way, it just was. Old habits are hard to break. Doing something because of the nostalgia of it is even harder to stop.
My grandma would make fun of me for waiting for it to cool down. They would drink it scalding hot right off the stove. My grandpa would slam his down as if he were in a race. Never understood that. I gave all of the kids coffee as babies when they wanted some but they end up not liking it as they got older. Good for them I guess.

My daily habit is pretty straightforward. Cheap k-cups. No cream. One packet of Truvia (stevia sweetener). I will usually drink two cups, so something simple and quick is the ticket.
If I am having a cup in the evening, later on after dinner, I might foam sweetened creamer, but that's pretty rare.
A friend tried getting me into roasting my own beans and doing the french press and all of that. Don't get me wrong. It makes a great cup of coffee, but the experience wasn't so good that it justified the extra commitments. Coffee isn't so much a delicacy for me as something functional.
I take it black or, if I'm at home, I'll make a latte. Over the years that latte has evolved into something that I'm sure any normal coffee drinking person would recoil in horror at, but I'm constantly tweaking the recipe and technique and I quite like it. But perhaps I'm just a tad biased.
I drink more black tea than coffee, but around 24 grams of light roasted beans ground finely for drip into a 15 ounce cup, with half & half or heavy cream. (HC this morning)
I rarely drink coffee now, partially because it's gotten too expensive, and I'm at too high of an elevation to grow it myself. When I do drink it, I prefer medium roast, black. It's become a treat that I usually reserve for guests or when I'm travelling.
Anyone else on team percolator? I switched over because you can't truly clean out the drip machines and I'm trying to eliminate plastic where I can. There's also the added bonus of not needing paper filters. I used a stovetop one before that but you have to hover over it which is not ideal.
I use a moka pot on the stove and drink it with butter and milk. I like to have a fat source in the morning. Many days, that will take me till 3 or later without eating. Today, I made it till 130 pm fully skipping breakfast. I do have some t bones ready for dinner though.
I have had other pots and such but the moka pot works the best. Just light roast organic beans wherever I can find them at a reasonable price.
Sometimes I roast my own. When I'm lazy it's Aldi single source organic. It's not bad, and cheap. Usually made with an Aeropress. One cup per day. Black.
haha Aero mess amirite. I used one of those a long time ago and it came in handy during a shtf scenario I'll give it that but if I ever tried rushing that thing it was the biggest mess ever and eventually I just went back to using the moka pot.
I use the Aeropress just about every morning. I don't make messes with it. Patience only takes another 5 seconds at most. I use a metal filter/screen I found on eBay. Works well.
Nothing fancy. I like a dark roast using a drip coffee maker. Absolutely no sugar, just some half and half. Weak coffee is lame.
I can very easily understand coffee snobs and I appreciate the finnickiness and the enjoyment of the ritual. Coffee snobs are way better than single malt scotch whiskey snobs.
I quit drinking coffee while staying in a hotel room in Des Moines in October 2020. You don't need to spend all that time and money on a dependency. Downvoat away with your fancy foams.

I've got a variety of brewing contraptions. French presses, aero press, siphon pot, chemex, clever dripper, phin, and a regular ol' drip brewer. I'm probably missing something.
But most importantly, black as my soul.

Having said that though my favorite treat way of having coffee is a Vietnam egg coffee.
Usually it entails a cup of coffee, with a egg added via whipping it into a foam with a bit of condensed milk and a bit of vanilla extract.
If you have never had it this way I would encourage you to try it. I would consider it a treat, much better then say some sugar laced starbuck swill.
