The natives weren't the same species and biologically had a different mode of living. Colonization destroyed their more primitive way of life. They aren't capable of building and maintaining a more advanced civilization, so are under stress trying to live in one. So, yes, from the perspective of a more primitive species, colonization forced them into living against their natural mode as is therefore bad.
