I'm in my bush cabin (on my property) and just got the woodstove fired up. I had to open the window to clear the air of smoke and as I do so a hawk swoops in right in front of the window and picks off a starling. I've seen it often here but it made me think of how life goes.

One minute everything is going well...in a split second everything can change and life is no more.

It's that simple...we're all starlings...we'll never hear that hawk swooping in on us and it will happen when least expected.

WPD is a place that features the 'hawks' and the situations where they're found.

Motor vehicles, for example. Watched a comp yesterday where 50+ got snatched up with 1 to 2 seconds warning. Some through their own errors, many by simply being a driver on the road.

So make sure you've told everyone you care about you love them, wear clean underwear, and have a friend who will delete your search history. Mostly the first one.

I've only had one. It was a 48 foot flight to land on a gravel road, and miraculously not even my glasses, found the next day, were damaged. I also stopped letting explosives go off in my hand after a more damaging incident. That was the only broken bone I've had. I guess I've just had a strong aversion to crippling injuries. Don't remember any particular reason, but remaining functional always seemed important.

Just remain aware you're literally invisible to a lot of drivers. I mean, a lot of them don't even look out the front windshield. Had two of them slam into the back of my last vehicle at full speed on the freeway (separate incidents) while I was stopped in traffic.

@Clubberetc...at first read of your comment you had me comfortably confused, my impulsive reflex didn't kick in and instinctively I knew that there was no need to reach for my Ruger 9er and air blast a full mag through my open patio door...and maybe clip an unsuspecting coon or two...but what you stated, (inadvertently?) despite it's fucking ignorant rude context and the shallow character traits that could be impressed upon the few of us who are more refined, indispensably wise and phlegmatically extroverted, but what you stated is somewhat of a crude profundity that not just any neurotic introvert or hygienic simpleton could come up with...sadly, what you stated is the future of the West and that fucking future is here now....OR....am I wrong?, in which case I'll grab a half dozen fullly stacked mags and maybe even a .45 or two....

@VitamineSieg...I need every hawk, owl and eagle I can get here and those starlings are destructive to eves and soffit and the pigeons will eat the stone out of roof shingles to where an "8 square" roof has the peak line picked down to the paper...I'm with the raptors
