The cylinder not the rod was the part that actually moved and was called "the bullet". It makes sense when you think about how to most easily keep things aligned. Also, the bullet encompassing the rod was as fast as possible, to try to make as much material go critical before being blown apart. This video has a stupid pause because dumb.

All lies, the bombs were new types of fuel/air devices. The US firebombing campaign started months earlier. Wily Nips rebuilt the cities right after the war, there is NO RADIATION.

air burst detonation has less fallout

can you niggers appreciate a shitpost? they surrendered shortly after, i don't care if the bomb was actually undigested curry

--video shows a ground burst. Either way, there would still be a shitload of radiation for the next few thousand years.

--no

Both bombs were uranium based. The byproducts of Uranium fission are Cesium 137 and Strontium 90.
The half life of Cesium 137 is 30 years and the half life of Strontium 90 is 29 years. "A few thousand years" is not an accurate estimate at all. We're almost 80 years later so the remaining nuclear material would've degraded by around 75%
Rebuilding the cities right after the war only makes sense. There is radioactive material everywhere. Use Geiger counters (not a new or hard to obtain technology in the 1940s) to locate the largest deposits of dangerous nuclear waste and move it somewhere else. Most radioactive waste was thrown into the air anyways where it was carried off by the wind into the oceans. Imagine being so fucking stupid you would deny the existence of nuclear weapons which throughout the 1960s had PUBLIC viewing opportunities in the Mojave Desert test areas.
They trained military members that they could survive nuclear weapons by hiding in trenches. These weapons were real. They were used on Japan.
