It is what it is, I guess.

This reads like it was incorrectly frazed, or at least was not written for a native english speaker.

It should have read: If you understand them, things are as they are. If you don't understand them, things (still) are as they are.

This frazing makes much more sense, and avoids the possibility of the reader interpreting the "are things as they are" as a question without a question mark.

Having said all this, I've been noticed a lot of titles, youtube dialog, and even just general posts all across the internet have been of suspiciously poor grammar of late.

Call me crazy, but it seems to me that it started around the same time as chat gpt really started to get going. Now this poor grammar thing seems to be almost everywhere.

What's not to understand?
