Not in any way that mattered. I never wore a mask anywhere and got a huge amount of shit for doing so, especially from panicky cashiers who refused to ring up my groceries and asked for another cashier to take over. I didn't wear one at work, and let my displeasure be known to my company's management that it was a ridiculous and pointless policy only established to reinforce the fear and submission of the workforce. I spoke with many people at work, and they generally agreed with me, but some still wore their face diapers.

And now, those who create policy are counting on people being just as scared and panicky as they were then to repeat their behavior because they're afraid of getting trouble.
