always go 3 hinges even on interior doors.

[ - ] observation1 2 points 2 monthsFeb 28, 2024 02:35:02 ago (+2/-0)

But why were the hinges chiseled out on the door-knob side?

Probably because it is shopped. I know this from the pixels and having seen many shops in my time.

Even if it wasn't shopped, even if someone did fuck up that badly, it's not unsalvageable. Route the other side for the hinges. You can either live with the ugly mortises on the failed side, or you can deal with them by cutting shims to size, gluing them in, woodfilling the gaps, sanding, and painting.

Hollow core door panels are cheap.

Yeah, the rational choice is to just buy another. Jus' mentioning that a harebrained fuckup like that can be fixed because we're White.

They ain't cheap. And who wants hollow core anyway?

Last I paid for a hollow core, it was only $40. Currently they're $60. Not terrible.

you chizel and cut your own hole, or something? Mad lad.

Don't know if sarcasm or not, but sometimes. No chisels required. A cheap set of mortising jigs and a router is all you need. Same with the door knob holes. Jig with circle and spade bits.

Your time is worth 8x that

It's like ten minutes tops. Fiveish when you've done it enough. I didn't originally buy those tools for me; I used to do occasional freelance work for a friend's dad who built houses. Nowadays that router gets put to good use by milling out lowers.

Always lvl stiles and rails and wood panels for exterior doors, mdf panels for interior.

[ - ] MayhemInChief 0 points 2 monthsFeb 28, 2024 05:42:54 ago (+1/-1)

Definitely shopped. There's a nice large uniform square there the knob hole should be.

[ - ] observation1 0 points 2 monthsFeb 28, 2024 10:44:01 ago (+0/-0)

It's not shopped

Well, the caption is, of course.

Judging by the fact you found the original image, I'm hoping you noticed that the door hinges weren't chiseled out on the knob side, but in fact, the negress installed them not in any notches at all.

Ya and now thinking the contractor likely did it for internet points. Two screws instead of 3, etc.

Its all so tiring.

The original, you have to realize, had nothing to do with a woman. The internet is fake and gay.
